Trump slams Pope Leo as "weak," "terrible" after Iran war criticism Added: Apr 13, 2026

Truth Details | Truth Social
Added: Apr 13, 2026Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump)
Site: Truth Social
Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy. He talks about âfearâ of the Trump Administration, but doesnât mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church, and all other Christian Organizations, had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everybody else, for holding Church Services, even when going outside, and being ten and even twenty feet apart. I like his brother Louis much better than I like him, because Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesnât! I donât want a Pope who thinks itâs OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. I donât want a Pope who thinks itâs terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers, into our Country. And I donât want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because Iâm doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do, setting Record Low Numbers in Crime, and creating the Greatest Stock Market in History. Leo should be thankful because, as everyone knows, he was a shocking surprise. He wasnât on any list to be Pope, and was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump. If I wasnât in the White House, Leo wouldnât be in the Vatican. Unfortunately, Leoâs Weak on Crime, Weak on Nuclear Weapons, does not sit well with me, nor does the fact that he meets with Obama Sympathizers like David Axelrod, a LOSER from the Left, who is one of those who wanted churchgoers and clerics to be arrested. Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician. Itâs hurting him very badly and, more importantly, itâs hurting the Catholic Church! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Iran: Between War and Peace (April 10, 2026)
Welcome to Home & Away. The war with Iran is at a critical juncture: after some five weeks, a ceasefire has been agreed to by the United States and Iran but has not been implemented. It is not even clear what it entails. Peace talks are slated to begin in a day. As a result, the protagonists and all those affected by the conflict (which is just about everyone) find themselves somewhere between war and peace, a gray area that is likely to describe the situation for some time to come.

Journalists keep burning leakers Added: Apr 13, 2026
Journalists keep burning leakers
Site: The Hill
Once or twice might be bad luck. More than that, however, and it begins to look like a trend.
With the arrest this week of U.S. Army veteran Courtney Williams, it has to be said: An underappreciated feature of classified leaks in the modern era is the frequency with which journalists unintentionally lead investigators straight to their sources. In the last decade or so there have been at least a half-dozen such cases. Once or twice might be bad luck â more than that, however, and it begins to look like a trend. On April 7, the FBI arrested the 40-year-old Williams and charged her with transmitting classified information to Rolling Stone contributing editor Seth Harp. What makes the matter striking is not so much the leaks themselves but the simplicity with which they were traced. Harp had previously named Williams in his reporting, quoted her at length, and, in some instances, used her likeness, such that federal investigators needed only to skim his reporting to find their culprit. Harp, for his part, maintains that his source "has committed no crime," which is interesting considering Williams told him specifically that she was "concerned about the amount of classified information being disclosed." Even wilder than this story â wilder than Harp having led the FBI directly to Williams â is that hers is not an isolated instance. In 2018, the FBI arrested and charged former special agent Terry Albury for having passed classified intelligence to the Intercept. The bureau caught Albury with relative ease, largely because the news outlet itself had filed unusually precise Freedom of Information Act requests for the very papers the special agent had already given them. The requests contained exact document titles and details unavailable to the public. When the bureau later examined its own records, it found that Albury had accessed more than two-thirds of the documents highlighted by the Interceptâs reporting, and that he was the only agent to have done so while copying and pasting portions of the digital intel. Albury pleaded guilty in 2018 to violations of the Espionage Act and served a little more than two years in federal prison. Speaking of the Intercept, it had already been down this road, even before Albury. In 2017, it published a story based on a classified intelligence report on Russian election interference. The information had been mailed to the paper by then-NSA contractor Reality Winner. To verify the intel, Intercept editors sent copies of the leaked information to the NSA. Unfortunately for Winner, the copies and photos shared with federal sources carried a multitude of clues â printer tracking dots and telltale creases revealing the documents had been printed and folded and carried out of a secure building. Investigators needed only a few days to connect the dots. Winner confessed, was charged under the Espionage Act, and received a sentence of five years and three months. There are other lesser examples, including when James Wolfe, the longtime director of security for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, was sentenced to two months in prison for lying to FBI agents during an investigation into whether he had leaked classified information to a reporter with whom he was having a not-so-secret extramarital affair. There is also former Defense Intelligence Agency counterterrorism analyst Henry Frese. Federal investigators caught him with ease, because he was obviously responsible for the classified information that appeared in his live-in girlfriendâs reporting. If you're willing to look back a bit further, there is the 2012 David Petraeus scandal. The former general and CIA director was caught sharing classified intelligence with his mistress and biographer, Paula Broadwell. In an evident fit of paranoid, possessive rage, Broadwell sent threatening, anonymous emails to a friend of the Petraeus family that triggered an official FBI cyberstalking investigation. The investigation ultimately exposed that the general had been feeding classified information to his extramarital affair partner. Aside from the obvious reminder that one shouldnât sleep with oneâs sources, thereâs another thought: As a journalist, one ought to try, at least, to make it more difficult for investigators to pinpoint oneâs sources. They should be teaching at J-schools that people in law enforcement and counterintelligence aren't idiots. It doesnât take Columbo to figure out that the reporter publishing leaked intel is probably getting her information from the boyfriend with the security clearance. It is a good thing that men and women still come forward when they believe something gravely wrong is being done in secret. We should not wish to discourage them. It is also a good thing that not all whistleblowers are so unlucky as the ones mentioned above. But when journalists repeatedly make it easy for investigators to determine the sources of leaks, whistleblowers may begin to think twice â not about speaking, but about to whom they speak. T. Becket Adams is a journalist and commentator in Washington.

Staunch Trump Supporters Are Now Asking If Heâs the Antichrist | WIRED Added: Apr 13, 2026
Staunch Trump Supporters Are Now Asking if Heâs the Antichrist
Site: WIRED
The Iran war and a series of social media posts, including one depicting Trump as Jesus Christ, have some conservative commentators and fans suspecting the president may be the antichrist.
The accusations reached a fever pitch on Sunday night, after Trump posted an AI-generated image depicting himself dressed in a white robe and red sash and placing a hand radiating golden light on a man in a hospital bed. The image, which Trump deleted from Truth Social after around 14 hours, seemed to invoke Jesus Christ, and it outraged some supporters who likened Trumpâs behavior to the antichristâa figure in Christian theology who opposes Christ and whose appearance many believe could augur the end of time. Major figures in the MAGA universe quickly spoke out. âItâs more than blasphemy. Itâs an Antichrist spirit,â former congressperson Marjorie Taylor Greene posted to X on Sunday. âIn 18 months I went from hesitantly voting for Trump to thinking thereâs a decent chance heâs the antichrist,â added Clint Russell, host of the right-wing Liberty Lockdown podcast. âI genuinely believe Trump is currently demon possessed,â far-right Texas pastor Joel Webbon wrote on X. Hours later, Webbon hosted a livestream chat titled âIs Donald Trump the Anti-Christ?â The Knights Templar Order, a Christian organization based on a medieval military order, wrote of the post that they had âno other choice but to condemn it wholeheartedly and ask for a public apology.â For more than a decade, Trump and his supporters have used explicitly religious rhetoric and images to mobilize his base. But in recent weeks, some of Trumpâs actionsâfrom posts about the Vatican to messages about Iran posted on Easter Sundayâhave caused a major schism among his supporters that could have lasting effects for him and the Republican Party. The White House did not respond to a request for comment. During a Monday news conference, Trump denied that the image portrayed him as Jesus, telling reporters that he thought the image depicted him as a doctor. âIt's supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better,â Trump told reporters. Several MAGA influencers have been claiming that Trump is the antichrist for some time now. Conservative pundit Tucker Carlson, in a 43 minute-long opening monolog on his show last Monday, suggested that the administrationâs war in Iran was also a war on the Christian faith. Carlson made the video in response to a Truth Social post from Trump on Easter where the president threatened to destroy significant infrastructure in Iran. (âOpen the Fuckinâ Strait, you crazy bastards, or youâll be living in Hell,â Trump wrote. âJUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.â) Despite his never saying the word âantichristâ during the video, people ranging from MAGA media figures like Alex Jones to users of the DonaldTrump666 subreddit thought Carlson was insinuating that Trump was the antichrist. This rhetoric marks a significant departure for Carlson. Though he has become more critical of the president and his administration recently, Carlson has long used religious language supportively when it comes to Trump. At the 2024 Republican National Convention, Carlson claimed that Trump survived the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, by âdivine intervention.â Trump also claimed divine intervention after the incident, as did many of his allies. Robert Jones, the president and founder of the Public Religion Research Institute, tells WIRED that Trumpâs frequent portrayals of himself as a messianic figure have helped bring MAGA to a breaking point. âThe reason why people have reached for [the antichrist label] is because Trump has actually set the stage for that himself,â says Jones. The Trump administration has been at odds with Catholics and the Vatican over the last week, as well. Hours before posting the AI-generated picture of himself as a Jesus-like figure, Trump slammed Pope Leo XIV on Truth Social as âWEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy,â adding, âI donât want a Pope who thinks itâs OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon.â While the Pope has never said he wants Iran to have a nuclear weapon, he has been highly critical of Trumpâs actions in Iran, calling the war âatrociousâ and adding that the leaders responsible for the conflict have âhands full of blood.â Trumpâs latest criticism of Leo comes just days after reports first emerged of a January meeting between administration officials and the Popeâs ambassador to the US, Cardinal Christophe Pierre. During the meeting, the USâs undersecretary of war for policy, Elbridge Colby, allegedly told Pierre that the Vatican should get on board with Trumpâs military ambitions or face the consequencesâwhich, The Free Press reported, included a reference to Avignon, implying that the US would exert pressure on the pope. The Department of Defense confirmed the meeting took place but called the accounts âexaggerated and distorted.â The Vatican press office also said in a statement that some of the reported details were âuntrue,â and added that the Pentagon meeting occurred âwithin the regular mission of the Pontifical Representative and provided an opportunity for an exchange of views regarding matters of mutual interest.â This is not the first time Trump has angered Catholics with AI imagery. Last year, after the death of Pope Francis, Trump shared an AI-generated image of himself as the pope. This time around however, with his approval ratings at an all-time low and Republicans worried about the midterms, the fallout could be much greater. âIt's a very politically risky move for Trump,â Jones tells WIRED. âEvery time he's been on the ballot, white Catholics in the US have voted for him about six in 10 ⌠If he alienates Catholic voters, many of whom are his supporters, it could be very detrimental.â
