Donald Trump lauds GOP's talent ahead of 2028 election, withholding endorsements for now Added: Jan 22, 2026

President Trump said the Republican Party has âa good benchâ of potential candidates to run for the White House in 2028, but he declined to name an early favorite to run as his successor. In an interview that aired Wednesday evening on NewsNationâs âKatie Pavlich Tonight,â Trump was asked whether he thinks thereâs a likely GOP candidate who could carry on his legacy. âI hope so,â he responded. âAnd we certainly have a good bench. We have some very talented people.â The president added that he does have early favorites but wouldnât give names. âI do, but it's so early. You know, I mean, I do actually. But it's so early that itâs, you know, I donât like to,â Trump told host Katie Pavlich, when asked about early preferences. Pressed for specific names, he touted the strength of his whole team. âLook, we have great people. You see what's happening. I mean the people that we have in so many â I'm not just talking about one or two â we have so many great people,â the president said. Pavlich pushed once more: âWho's 'so many'?â âWell, JD's been great. Marco has been great. Scott's been great. Everybody's been great,â Trump said, referring to Vice President Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. âLook at Tom Homan and Kristi, the job they've done with security,â he continued, referring to his border czar and Homeland Security Kristi Noem, respectively. âI could name 20 people that are phenomenal,â Trump added. The exchange comes as Republicans gear up for the 2026 midterms following a series of losses in last year's races. A new poll from Emerson College shows Democrats leading a hypothetical race with 48.1 percent support to the GOP's 41.7 percent. The other 10.2 percent were undecided, according to the survey. Trump has also acknowledged the concerns but downplayed the expectations, telling Fox News in an interview earlier this month that the president's party âalways loses."

Tech billionaires avoid California wealth tax Added: Jan 22, 2026

Mainstream media mouthpiece Kara Swisher, a journalist known for extremely negative and hostile coverage of tech figures like Elon Musk, is really, really mad that the billionaires of Silicon Valley have figured out one neat trick to avoid paying Californiaâs proposed massive wealth tax: theyâre simply going to leave the state. I, for one, find it amusing that Peter Thiel, Sergey Brin, David Sacks and Larry Page have so easily foiled the Democratsâ plot to confiscate 5 percent of their wealth. But Swisher is furious. Here she was raging at the billionaires, claiming they owe it to the state of California to pay off the stateâs considerable debts. âWe deserve the taxes from youâ â thatâs essentially what Swisher is saying. My question, who is we? I feel differently than her, and I expect most people watching this do as well. Letâs state our values plainly: No one is entitled to the fruits of another personâs labors. No one deserves someone elseâs money. No one who earned their fortune legitimately, through their own hard work, should be morally or legally or philosophically obligated to fork it over to the state. That doesnât mean the wealthy should pay zero taxes. Of course the government needs to collect some tax revenue to pay for the upkeep of the things it owns: roads, parks, etc., and to maintain the services that are the rightful purview of the state: courts, police, fire, and so on. We also accept in modern society that we donât want the needy and the infirm and the elderly to starve or go without medical care, and so we have broadly agreed as a society that the rich will pay more in order to provide for the welfare of the less fortunate, to varying degrees. But when a state grossly mismanages its own funds, despite taking in almost $270 billion a year in tax revenue, it is not the responsibility of people who already cough up billions to come to Californiaâs rescue. Swisher has the relationship between California and the tech entrepreneurs backward. It is not California that has made the tech sector great. It is the tech sector that has made California great. The state has benefitted from their wealth â from the successful companies theyâve started, from the people theyâve employed, from the technology theyâve created. Yes, itâs a nice place to live, the weather is pretty great. But the weather is nice in Florida, too. And the regulatory policies are even nicer. I think that deep down, thatâs really what annoys the Kara Swishers of the world: the revelation that under the capitalism system, successful people donât need the government to help them, they just need it to leave them alone. The European Union is obsessed with strangling its tech sector in the crib, and so they have no major successful tech companies to speak of. Just leave business alone, and you get huge success, and riches, and then sure, you can use some of that money to fund public projects and take care of the poor. But you canât simultaneously demonize the wealthy and then expect them to bail out a bankrupt state. But for the progressive left, it is taken as a fact that âyou didnât build that,â the government did. Remember when President Obama confessed that this was his entire outlook? Sorry, Kara Swisher: YOU didnât build that. Elon Musk did. David Sacks did. Larry Page did. And if you want to confiscate even more of their wealth, then they will build it somewhere else. Somewhere the Republicans are in charge. Robby Soave is co-host of The Hillâs commentary show âRisingâ and a senior editor for Reason Magazine. This column is an edited transcription of his daily commentary.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is known for being honest and always looking for ways to improve things. He often says that criticism is important for both personal and professional growth. 'Really pay attention to negative feedback and solicit it, particularly from friends. Hardly anyone does that, and itâs incredibly helpful,â Musk has said. He says this is something that doesn't happen very often, but is very helpful. People have used the quote in interviews, speeches, and written collections of Elon Musk's words over the years. Most of the time, it has to do with leadership, engineering discipline, and product development. The quote's fundamental point is easily understood. Musk claims that most individuals prefer praise and avoid criticism. This implies that important knowledge that could improve things is frequently overlooked. People can gain a better understanding of their flaws and blind spots by deliberately soliciting negative criticism, particularly from people they know and trust. The meaning behind Elon Muskâs quoteMusk has talked about feedback a lot when talking about how his businesses work. He has said in front of many people that feedback is data, not judgment. He thinks that criticism gives you information that you can test, fix, or act on. Praise can be helpful, but it doesn't always lead to real improvement.Musk has said in interviews that friends and close coworkers are the best people to give constructive criticism. They usually see a person's habits, decision-making patterns, and mistakes over and over again for a long time. Musk has also said that friends might not be honest unless you ask them directly. He says that this reluctance is why it's important to actively ask for feedback. The quote shows a pattern in Musk's thinking that is more general: progress depends on finding out what isn't working instead of building on what is already working. This mindset reflects engineering culture, prioritising iteration, error detection, and measurable outcomes over ego, comfort, validation, or consensus-driven reassurance alone. Why negative feedback is often avoidedMusk has said that getting bad feedback can be hard. Sometimes, people don't say what they really think at work to keep the peace, or because they fear upsetting authority or damaging relationships. People may not tell the truth about their feelings in personal relationships to avoid fights. Musk says that avoiding these things makes it hard to understand the real situation and underlying issues that need attention. He has said that problems tend to stay hidden when there isn't clear feedback. Over time, small problems can turn into big problems. He has said that this rule applies to people, teams, and even very complicated systems, where hidden issues can cascade and create unexpected failures.Musk is suggesting that people should ask for criticism as a way to close these gaps early. The process might be uncomfortable, but it lets you fix things before they get worse, building stronger teams, improving systems, and fostering honesty in communication.Feedback as a working principle at SpaceX and TeslaHow SpaceX and Tesla work shows how Musk thinks about feedback. He has said in public that he wants his employees to bring up problems quickly and directly. Musk stressed in private messages that later became public that bad news should spread faster than good news within a company. This method has been linked to quick iteration cycles at SpaceX. Rocket designs are put through tests, and if they fail, the reasons for the failure are looked at and changes are made on the basis of feedback given after the tests. Musk has said that this process is necessary for making things more reliable and better. At Tesla, too, internal review and critical analysis have been used to fix problems with production and design. Musk has said that putting off problems or not giving feedback only makes things worse in the long run.The role of friends in honest feedbackOne important part of Musk's quote is how much he talks about friends. He has said that friends often know more about your personal habits than coworkers or bosses do. They might notice patterns of behaviour or choices that other people miss.Musk has also said that friends are less likely to give criticism unless asked to. Even when it could help, social norms often make it hard to be completely honest. Musk's request for negative feedback shows that people can make room for more honest conversations. He believes that things can only get better if you face reality as it is, not how you want it to be.Also read | Quote of the day by Apple CEO Tim Cook

Quote of the day by Sundar Pichai: The right moral compass is trying hard to...
Site: India Today
Sundar Pichai has urged leaders and engineers to weigh the global good when they build technology. His words have reminded companies that technical possibility must be balanced by ethical care and long-term thinking.
âThe right moral compass is trying hard to think about what is right for the world.âThese words are spoken by Sundar Pichai, the chief executive of Alphabet and Google. They sum up his public insistence that technology must be guided by ethical judgement, not only by what is possible. The line is used widely in profiles and collections of his remarks on leadership and product responsibility.SUNDAR PICHAI PERSONALITY AND LIFESundar Pichai, born Pichai Sundararajan on June 10, 1972, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, grew up in a modest home in Chennai. From a young age, he showed a deep interest in technology and education. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, followed by a Masterâs at Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School, where he was recognised for academic excellence. He joined Google in 2004, initially working on the Google Toolbar and later leading Google Chrome, which became a global success. His achievements earned him promotions to Product Chief, overseeing Gmail, Maps, and Drive, and eventually to CEO of Google in 2015 and CEO of Alphabet Inc. in 2019.Known for his calm, thoughtful leadership, Pichai combines technical expertise with strategic vision and a focus on ethical technology.Beyond corporate achievements, Pichai advocates for AI ethics, accessibility, and global education initiatives, emphasising that technology must serve humanity. His journey from a small apartment in Chennai to leading one of the worldâs most influential companies inspires millions worldwide.WHAT DOES THE QUOTE SIGNIFYAt first glance, the sentence asks leaders to do hard moral work: to test ideas not only for customers or profit, but for wider human consequences.Pichaiâs 'moral compass' is practical rather than abstract, it is an active effort to ask, âWill this help or harm people, societies, future generations?âHe has repeatedly said teams must weigh safety, fairness and explainability as new technologies, especially AI, move from lab to daily life. In public talks he has urged questions like âCan we do this?â to be followed by âShould we do this?â and âHow will this affect the vulnerable?âDeeply, the quote asks for humility. Technical skills can create scale quickly; moral reasoning slows that rush in order to protect trust, privacy and dignity. It also shifts responsibility: not just engineers, but product managers, executives and regulators must keep asking what is right for the world, not only what wins the quarter.MORE QUOTES BY SUNDAR PICHAIWe are still remarkably far away from where AI can take over.AI is probably the most important thing humanity has ever worked on.We are operating with the view that the future of work will be flexible. This notion of ambient computing, which is there to help.Pichaiâs line is a plain but urgent call: talent must be joined to conscience. In an age of rapid change, the most valuable skill for leaders is learning to think beyond immediate gain and choose what is right for the world.- EndsPublished By: Princy ShuklaPublished On: Jan 22, 2026Read | Quote of the day by Aristotle: It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to...Read | Quote of the day by Sir Isaac Newton: If I have seen further, it is by....

President Trump on Thursday addressed bruising on his hand seen at an event earlier in the day. saying he âclippedâ it on a table and attributing being easily bruised to the side effects of taking aspirin daily for his heart condition. âIâm very good,â Trump said when a reporter traveling with him on Air Force One if he was OK. âI clipped it on the table,â he continued, saying that he put cream on it. âI would say take aspirin if you like your heart, but donât take aspirin if you donât want to have a little bruising,â the president said. âI take the big aspirin. And when you take the big aspirin, they tell you, you bruise.â âThe doctors said, âYou donât have to take that, sir. You are very healthy.â I said, âIâm not taking any chances,ââ he said. âThatâs one of the side effects of taking aspirin." Photos taken of Trump attending the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday showed bruising on his left hand while attending the Board of Peace event with several world leaders. Earlier, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt acknowledged the bruising and attributed to the same side effects. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal earlier this month, Trump attributed the bruising to his aspirin intake. âThey say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I donât want thick blood pouring through my heart,â he told the publication. âI want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart. Does that make sense?â Trump was previously seen with bruising on his hand during Oval Office events. Trump, who turns 80 in June, is the oldest person ever to be elected president in the U.S.

Metal clumps in a quantum state: Physicists place thousands of sodium atoms in a 'SchrĂśdinger's cat state'
Can a small lump of metal be in a quantum state that extends over distant locations? A research team at the University of Vienna answers this question with a resounding yes. In the journal Nature, physicists from the University of Vienna and the University of Duisburg-Essen show that even massive nanoparticles consisting of thousands of sodium atoms follow the rules of quantum mechanics. The experiment is currently one of the best tests of quantum mechanics on a macroscopic scale.
