xAIās Grok 3: All the GPUs, None of the Breakthroughs | HackerNoon
Elon claimed Grok 3 was the world's best AI. Two months later, how does it really stack up against GPT-4o, Claude 3.7 & Gemini 2.5?
At the end of February, Elon rolled out his latest model. Of course, it was "the best in the world." Is it really a Smartest AI on Earth? As usual, Musk brought the hype train. But there wasn't much objective data at launch. xAI's short blog post mentioned that it was still in beta and the models were actively training. They flashed some benchmarks showing Grok 3 ahead. However, they did not give access to the API. Which is important because independent benchmarks use it for evaluation. So, Elon claims Grok 3 is "scarily smart" and beats everything else. But the only ways to check were chatting with it yourself or looking at their benchmarks. And those benchmarks? Take a look: See that lighter area on the right? That's the boost Grok got by having way more compute power (test-time compute) to get more consistent answers. It's not exactly a fair fight. You probably know AI models often give slightly different answers each timeāsometimes better, sometimes worse. Most benchmarks ignore this variability, evaluating only the first response (pass@1). Itās simpler and matches how we actually use AIāwe expect a good answer on the first try. But Grok results were all shown using cons@64. Meaning, it got 64 tries for each question and picked the most common answer. Then, xAI compared that boosted score against the pass@1 scores of competitors. So on one hand, they claim it's a next-gen model. On the other, they're using pretty cheap tricks. To be fair, in such a competitive field, all labs bend the rules. They cherry-pick benchmarks or exclude stronger models from comparisonsābut rarely as blatantly. Okay, benchmarks aside. What are experienced users saying after actually using it? The general consensus is: The model is huge but hasnāt brought breakthroughs. It still hallucinates and tends toward overly long responses. Performance-wise, Grok 3 lands somewhere near the top OpenAI models, maybe a bit better than DeepSeek and Google's stuff at the time of release. However, two months later, Gemini 2.5, Claude 3.7, and the new GPT-4o arrived. We also finally got partial API access for Grok 3 and its mini version. Unfortunately, only the mini version received the thinking mode in API. So today we know it's expensive and definitely not the absolute best. But hold on, there's still more to the story. The model is interesting and worth looking at. And you have to hand it to them, Elon and xAI jumped into the market quickly, becoming a key player in record time. 1 ā The Hardware The big story here? In 2024, xAI built a massive compute cluster. We're talking 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs up and running in just 4 months. Then they doubled that to 200,000 cards in another 3 months. Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, mentioned this usually takes about 4 years. This was a massive engineering feat. And this time, no funny businessāit's the largest data center in the world. Nobody else has managed to link up that many GPUs in one spot. Typically, such clusters are multiple regular data centers linked by costly Infiniband cables. During training, these centers need to swap tons of data constantly. If the connection is slow, those pricey GPUs sit idle, which is bad news. A typical data center might have 10,000-20,000 GPUs, sucking down 20-30 megawatts of power. For example, Microsoft (for OpenAI) operates 100k GPUs network in Arizona, and Meta runs 128k. See the two H-shaped buildings? That's two standard Meta data centers next to each other. Power needs for top-tier clusters have exploded up to 10x since 2022. We're now talking around 150 MW per cluster. That's like powering a small city. This creates a huge load on regional power grids. In some places, it's actually cheaper to generate the power than to deliver it because there aren't enough power lines. So, Elon enters this market way behind. And... does the "Elon thing." Hate his tweets all you want, the man knows how to build factories like nobody else. He bought an old Electrolux factory in Memphis and decided to build one giant data center instead of a network like everyone else. Predictably, power became an issue. The factory only had 7 MW from the local gridāenough for only 4,000 GPUs. The local utility, Tennessee Valley Authority, promised another 50 MW, but not until August. And xAI's own 150 MW substation was still being built, not ready until year-end. But waiting isnāt Muskās style. Dylan Patel (from Semianalysis) spotted via satellite images that Elon just brought in 14 massive mobile diesel generators from VoltaGrid. Hooked them up to 4 mobile substations and powered the data center. Literally trucked in the electricity. Patel mentioned they might have bought up 30% of the entire US market for these generators (though I couldn't find anything on that). Impressively, the data center also uses liquid cooling. Only Google has really done this at scale before. This is a big deal because the next generation of Nvidia chips, the Blackwell B200s, require liquid cooling. Everyone else will have to retrofit their existing data centers. You can check out the first few minutes of this video to see what it looks like inside. I got a chuckle out of how hyped the guy is about gray boxes and cables: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf8EPSBZU7Y&embedable=true It's seriously cool engineeringājust look at the cable management. No one has done such massive work in so little time. 2 ā Even More Hardware! Elon says by summer 2025, they'll have a 300k GPU cluster with Blackwell B200 chips. Given Muskās habit of exaggeration, let's say it's realistically somewhere between 200-400k new chips by the end of 2025. B200 is roughly 2.2 times better than H100 for model training (based on Nov 2024 estimates). Musk even plans to build a dedicated 2.2 GW power plant. That's more power than a medium-sized city consumes. And he's not aloneāall the big players are doing something similar: Meta is building two gas plants in Louisiana. OpenAI/Microsoft is setting up something similar in Texas. Amazon and Google are also building gigawatt-scale data centers. Why not nuclear? It's got the power, but building a nuclear plant takes way too long. You can't just pop one up next to your data center in a year. Wind and solar farms plus batteries are promising, but they also take too long to deploy at the needed scale. As a result, both Microsoft and Meta have already had to backtrack on their green renewable energy promises. They broke their backs lifting Moloch to Heaven! 3 ā Grok 3 is Huge So, Elon built this massive, expensive box. Now what? Estimates suggest Grok 2 trained on ~20k H100s, while Grok 3 used over 100k. For context, GPT-4 trained for about 90-100 days on ~25k older A100 chips, with H100 roughly 2.25x faster. Doing the math, Grok 2 got about twice the computing power thrown at it compared to GPT-4. And Grok 3 got five times more than Grok 2. Google's Gemini 2.0 probably used a similar amount of hardware (100k of their own TPUv6 chips), but the model itself is likely smaller. Basically, the total compute cost for Grok 3 is an order of magnitude (10 times!) higher than its closest competitor. Sadly, we don't have public data for GPT-4.5 or Gemini 2.5. So they poured insane amounts of resources into building this mega-cluster, and the resulting model is... just on par with the incumbents. Definitely not leagues better. It seems xAI's expertise in training still lags behind OpenAI, Google, or Anthropic. They essentially brute-forced their way into the top tier. No magic tricks shown, just: "If brute force isn't solving your problem, you aren't using enough of it." But there's a catch with that approach. Epoch AI estimates that over the last decade, algorithmic improvements accounted for about a third of the progress in model capabilities. The other two-thirds came from just throwing more hardware and data at bigger models. Brute force worked for Grok 3 this time, but costs will grow exponentially while delivering less and less improvement. And xAI need to catch up on the algorithm side. The good news is that now they're seen as pushing the frontier, so it will likely be much easier to attract top talent. 4 ā What's Good About Grok? It's completely free (probably until the full release). And without Anthropic's tight limits, DeepSeek's outages, or OpenAI's paid tiers. Even with all the new models dropped in the last couple of months, Grok is still holding its own near the top of the Chatbot Arena leaderboard. We now also have an independent benchmarking by EpochAI: And by LiveBench: Reasoning & Deep Research Mode Back in February, free Deep Research feature was mostly Perplexity exclusive. Now, Google and OpenAI offer some in a basic tierāmaybe Grok pushed them? This mode automatically analyzes 30-100 links (Google might do more) in minutes and spits out a detailed (and bloated) summary that you just need to skim and fact-check. It's way easier than researching anything from scratch. I've found Grok's version works faster than the others, so I've started using it when I need to research something. Like, when buying a new headphones. Integration with X This could be its killer feature: semantic search not just for keywords, but for what you meant. You can also ask it to summarize posts on a topic to track trends. Or to find recent posts from a specific user. Twitter is the closest to a real-time information platform, so thats great. But so far Grok often lags, pulling data from the last couple of days instead. The Unfiltered Stuff And for the grand finale, the 18+ mode. Grok is notoriously easy to jailbreak without much effort. You can get it to do... well, whatever you might want, from flirty voices to questionable recipes. The voice mode examples are particularly wild. https://x.com/goodside/status/1893932239718691167?embedable=true Listen to the end, it's hilarious! Ironically, Grok itself doesn't seem to hold Musk (or Trump) in high regard. When this came out, xAI tried a fixāliterally hardcoding a rule that Grok couldn't criticize Elon. When that blew up, they blamed a former OpenAI employee for ānot fitting the company culture.ā Super cringe. The real issue is that Grok's opinions are just a reflection of its training data (i.e., the internet), not some intentional bias. Trying to patch these views without messing up the whole model is hard. 5 - Should You Bother Trying It? Definitely try it, but as your second pilot. TLDR: Cost way more to train than competitors' models.|Despite that, performance is almost on par with the best.
But it's super fast and free (for now).
The Deep Research mode is genuinely usefulātry it if you haven't.
More prone to hallucinations and jumping to conclusions too fast.
Responses are usually well-structured but often feels bloated.
Unique access to Twitter data. xAI proved capable of building world-class infrastructure at unprecedented speed. But in actual AI capabilities, they're basically buying their way to the top with sheer compute power. This adds another strong player pressuring OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, pushing the AI industry toward commoditization. Competition is heating up and the exclusivity of top-tier models is fading. Video of Bill Maher revealing details of his dinner with Trump goes viral
Newsweek
Maher met with President Donald Trump at the White House earlier this month for a dinner brokered by mutual friend Kid Rock.
Comedian and television host Bill Maher revealed on Friday the details of his recent dinner with President Donald Trump in an attempt to emphasize the need for civil discourse rather than "hurling insults from 3,000 miles away."Newsweek reached out by email on Saturday morning, outside of normal business hours, to Maher and Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) for comment. Why It MattersMaher, host of HBO's weekly talk show Real Time With Bill Maher, has often spoken out against Trump over the years, making him the butt of jokes. Trump, in return, has often lambasted Maher, calling him "overrated" and "ratings challenged." Just before the dinner took place, Trump posted on Truth Social that Maher has been "unjustifiably critical of anything or anyone TRUMP."Last month, Maher compared extreme adulation for Trump by his die-hard supporters to that of North Koreans praising their leader Kim Jong-Un. Maher also said that in a hypothetical rematch election between Trump and former President Joe Biden, he would "vote for Biden's head in a jar of blue liquid versus Donald Trump."The comedian has also been critical of "woke" progressives, describing himself as an "old-school liberal." He has repeatedly raised concerns about the left and what he and many others describe as "cancel culture." He touts dialogue between political factions as important and maintains friendships with prominent conservatives, who he also features on his show. What To KnowMaher and Trump met after musician Kid Rock, a mutual friend, arranged the dinner.Trump, in his lengthy Truth Social post ahead of the dinner, said he agreed to the dinner as a "favor for a friend." Maher said he did not pursue the dinner as a form of political reconciliation, but rather because "there's got to be something better than hurling insults from 3000 miles away."The video in which the comedian spoke about his dinner with the president, which was posted to X, formerly Twitter, had been reposted over 11,000 times with over 4 million views by noon on Saturday."What I'm going to do is report exactly what happened," Maher said at the start of his monologue in this week's episode. "You decide what you think about it, and if that's not enough, pure Trump hate for you, I don't give a f***."The comedian's opening was a nod to progressive critics, who have slammed his White House meeting with Trump. Maher routinely sparks outrage from some progressives for his willingness to engage with conservatives, and his criticism of some left-wing positions.Maher revealed he found Trump to be "gracious and measured," finding it strange that he "isn't that in other setting." As an example of this unexpected good humor, Maher showed off a list of 60 insults Trump had said about him, which he had brought to the dinner and had Trump sign."Stupid, dummy, low life, sleaze bag, sick, sad, stoned, cold, crazy, a dumb guy," Maher rattled off from the list before turning it around to show Trump's signature, adding that the president did it "with good humor," quipping that he expected anything nice he said about Trump to cause "millions of liberal sphincters" to tighten."Maher sprinkled jabs at Trump throughout his account of the evening, such as quipping that he wasn't going to "dress like [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky" in reference to the Ukrainian leader's ill-fated visit to the White House. He also revealed that he joked about the high-profile lawsuit Trump filed against him in 2013 when Maher parodied Trump's birther claims about former President Barack Obama by claiming the real estate mogul's father was an ape and offered to make a $5 million donation if he could prove he wasn't half ape. The lawsuit was ultimately dismissed without prejudice just eight weeks later."He said to Dana White, 'You know, Bill said my father was an orangutan, and I really love my father,'" Maher said, adding that he retorted, "Well, Mr. President, I did that because I didn't like what you were doing regarding Obama's birth origins. I thought that was low.""No anger, just a little smile, as if to say, 'Yea, I get it,'" Maher said.He explained later: "The most surreal part of the whole night was when I got home, I flew back right after the dinner, and I'm in bed watching 60 Minutes from the night before, and there's Trump in one of their stories, standing at a podium in a room that looked to me like one of the rooms and places we'd just been in and he's rantingā"Disgusting. You're a terrible person"āand I'm like, 'Who's that guy? What happened to Glinda, the good witch? And why can't we get the guy I met to be the public guy?'""I'm not saying it's our responsibility to do that," Maher added. "It's not I'm just reporting exactly what I saw.""A crazy person doesn't live in the White Houseāa person who plays a crazy person on TV a lot lives there, which I know is fed up," he said. "It's just not as fed up as I thought it was, and I have no illusions now that I'm back to work at my job, that he might start a new list."Concluding his monologue, Maher again pushed back against progressive criticism."OK, that's my report. You can hate me for it, but I'm not a liar. Trump was gracious and measured, and why he isn't that in other settings, I don't know. And I can't answer, and it's not my place to answer. I'm just telling you what I saw, and I wasn't high," he said.Later in the show, Maher sparred with panelist Josh Rogin, a columnist at The Washington Post, as Rogin critiqued the comedian's dinner with Trump."Not everybody has to like it," Maher shot back. "That's what we said, there were people who didn't want it to happen at all. You sound like one of them.""What is the alternative to not talking?" the comedian asked. "Just sit at your lunch table and don't talk to anybody?"Rogin responded by saying the dinner was a "PR stunt" for Trump and that Maher had been used as a "prop."What People Are SayingFormer GOP Illinois Representative Joe Walsh wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Oh [Bill Maher], you think much too highly of yourself to think anyone would 'hate' you for having dinner with Trump. But you do sound super naive."He added: "So Trump, the man who lies as he breathes, the man who tried to overthrow an American election, the man who purposely spreads cruelty & division to win, the man who is throwing innocent people in an El Salvador prison, the man who is siding with Putin, the man who is expelling people bcuz of their beliefs, the man who thinks he's a dictator, the man who is ordering the justice dept to go after his political enemies, the man who is trying to tear down our democracy & the rule of law...that man is sort of 'gracious & measured' in private? Really Bill? Screw that. With everything Trump is doing PUBLICLY to this country I love, I don't give a damn what he's like in PRIVATE. Shame on you Bill. All you did was normalize him. Maybe that's good for your ratings, but it's bad for the country."Collin Rugg, co-owner of conservative commentary site Trending Politics, wrote on X: "Bill Maher says he was completely wrong about Trump, says he felt way more comfortable with Trump than he would have with Clinton or Obama. The reflection after 8 years of railing on the president comes after Maher visited the White House."U.S. ambassador to Israel and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee wrote on X: "This is so good! What [Bill Maher] saw in [Donald Trump] is what most of us who know & love POTUS see when we are with him. Listen & learn!"Far-right political activist Laura Loomer wrote on X: "So sick of Bill Maher Simps. Conservatives are so desperate to be friends with people who hate them. All I know is I had a productive week in Cali, which included my deposition of Bill Maher. It's all on video and transcribed. You won't see me kissing his ass."Kyle Kulinski, a progressive political commentator and podcast host, wrote on X: "Bill Maher, like Rogan, is so washed and going out sad."What Happens Next?Real Time With Bill Maher airs on HBO on Fridays at 10 p.m. ET, with a second airing on CNN on Saturdays at 8 p.m. ET.Update 4/13/25 at 10:03 a.m. ET: This article was updated with additional information.|

Babylon Bee's Seth Dillon applauds Bill Maher for positive meeting with Trump | Fox News
Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon commended liberal comedian Bill Maher for his meeting with President Donald Trump last month and said he didn't view it in the same vein as California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom's attempt to reach across the aisle with his new podcast. Dillon said he believed the "Real Time" host was facing the "reality" that the left's attacks on Trump hadn't helped Democrats. "Maher is looking at the reality of the situation where the left and the right are so at war with each other. They're so stuck in their respective positions and unwilling to budge and not willing to come together and actually have real conversations. And that's not working," Dillon told Fox News Digital. "Vilifying Trump and just lobbing bombs at him from a distance isn't helping Democrats at all. Democrats ended up losing this election when they were pretty confident that they would win it," he continued. BILL MAHER REVEALS TRUMP WAS āGRACIOUS AND MEASUREDā AT WHITE HOUSE MEETING, SAYS HE'S NOT THE MAN SEEN ON TV Maher went viral last Friday in his first show since he met Trump face-to-face in a meeting coordinated by their mutual friend Kid Rock. The comedian praised Trump afterward, calling him "gracious and measured" and suggested the man in the Oval Office is not the man the rest of the world sees on TV. "I never felt I had to walk on eggshells around him," Maher told his audience. "And honestly, I voted for Clinton and Obama, but I would never feel comfortable talking to them the way I was able to talk with Donald Trump. That's just how it went down. Make of it what you will. Me? I feel it's emblematic of why the Democrats are so unpopular these days." While conservatives celebrated Maher's White House visit, many liberals were irked by his comments, calling Maher a "shameless opportunist" who "got played" by Trump. DAVE PORTNOY RIPS INTO GAVIN NEWSOM AS āTRASHā AFTER CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES NEW PODCAST Dillon, who runs the Christian conservative-leaning satire site The Babylon Bee, defended the liberal comedian amid the backlash. "To his credit, I think it's wise to say, instead of always being at each other's throats, let's actually have a real conversation," Dillon said. "Let's humanize this person who's been so demonized. Let's talk to him and let's see if there's maybe somewhere we can find common ground. I don't know how you could possibly criticize someone for taking that outlook. I think that's a healthy outlook." Maher isn't the only one on the left who's recently attracted negative attention for meeting with prominent figures on the right. In February, Newsom was mocked after announcing he would be having "real conversations" with conservatives on his new podcast, "This is Gavin Newsom." Newsom invited Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk as his guest on his debut show and made headlines after saying there was an issue of "fairness" with transgender inclusion in women's sports. NEWSOM CALLS BIOLOGICAL MEN IN WOMEN'S SPORTS āDEEPLY UNFAIRā IN PODCAST WITH CONSERVATIVE ACTIVIST Dillon believes people on both sides of the political aisle would benefit from leaving their bubbles more often to engage with the other side. But he is wary that Newsom is truly sincere in his attempt to find common ground. "I judge him differently than I judge Bill Maher," Dillon said. "Bill Maher is not a politician. He's not running for office." While emphasizing that he doesn't know what Maher or Newsom's personal motivations are, Dillon believes Newsom's podcast is more of a "calculated" move intended to bolster his political ambitions. "I think Newsom's trying to position himself as reaching across the aisle, being willing to talk. For him, I think it's much more about optics than it is about something authentic in his desire to understand the other side," he added. CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE Other podcast hosts, such as podcast giant Joe Rogan, have also faced criticism at times for hosting controversial guests and conspiracy theorists on their platforms. Dillon, a free speech advocate who has fought against social media censorship of his website, argued there was nothing wrong with calling for media hosts to be "responsible." "I think some of the criticism that people on the right have gotten for 'platforming' certain voices is that they not only talked to them⦠but then they didn't push back on them when they were saying outrageous or false or reckless things," Dillon said. "It's interpreted as an attempt to shut down discourse when there's a response like that," he said. "But what they're doing is they're just criticizing the judgments and choices of the person who has that platform. They're not calling for censorship and saying that person has no right to speak." CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP "So that criticism is actually a contribution to the conversation, not an attempt to end all of these conversations. And so I think there's some mischaracterization that's happening there in bad faith," he continued. "We have to be committed to free expression, the exchange of ideas, open discourse. It's the best and fastest way to get to the truth and it honors people's rights to [freedom of expression]," he added. "You can disagree with whatever the consensus is and push back on it. You even have a duty to." Newsom's office did not respond to a request for comment.|

Send in the clown: Bill Maher turns pro-Trump
The Hill
Maher, the comic who once fancied himself a fearless political truth-teller, is now wobbling under the weight of his own ego.
Thereās a maxim that the difference between a comedian and a comic is that a comedian says funny things, and a comic says things funny. Then there are clowns ā like Bill Maher. He traded his red nose for a big brown one the second he eagerly walked into President Trumpās gaudy White Fun House of deception. Maher, the comic who once fancied himself a fearless political truth-teller, is now wobbling under the weight of his own ego. His recent televised monologue ā an extended love letter to his dinner with Trump ā was less a political reflection than a highlight reel of self-flattery and unearned gravitas. Maher bragged that he had dinner with Trump ā āa dinner that was set up by my friend Kid Rock.ā Yes, when your access to the leader of the free world is coordinated by a rap-rock-country novelty act ā a man who has assaulted a strip-club DJ, waved Confederate flags and hurled homophobic slurs at his own fans ā you might want to reevaluate your choices. But Maher treated it like an RSVP to the Met Gala. āI'm not the leader of anything,ā Maher proclaimed, āexcept maybe a contingent of centrist-minded people who think thereās got to be a better way of running this country than hating each other every minute.ā In his own narcissistic head, Maher envisions himself as the messiah of moderates. Seriously? There are real centrist leaders out there ā legislators, governors, community organizers ā people who have actually done something for policy improvements. Maher assured his audience, āWhat Iām gonna do is report exactly what happened,ā as though he were offering some kind of groundbreaking journalism. Right. Because when we think of trustworthy, hard-hitting reporting, we immediately picture ⦠Bill Maher ā the guy who pauses his own punchlines to flirt with Megyn Kelly. Maherās White House visit wasnāt reporting. It was the equivalent of watching TMZ try to cover the Geneva Convention. He even tried to humanize Trump by declaring, āIāve never seen him laugh in public. But he does, including at himself. And itās not fake. Believe me, as a comedian of 40 years, I know a fake laugh when I hear it.ā Although Maher has never held elected office, never written legislation, never studied foreign policy or constitutional law, he is indeed an expert in fake laughter. If youāve ever heard the sweetened, over-enthusiastic studio audience guffaws that accompany his weekly monologues, itās undeniable that nobody is more familiar with fake laughs. Maher also made sure to point out that he corrected Trump the night before, when the president tweeted that Maher was critical of āall things Trump.ā āNot true,ā Maher said. āCheck the tapes. Moving Israelās embassy to Jerusalem? Loved it.ā Though Maher conveniently forgot to mention the Palestinian children getting bombed in the process. Trump didnāt just invite Maher in ā he handed him a gold-plated mic and watched him croon the MAGA anthem. āI never felt I had to walk on eggshells,ā Maher said, adding that, āI voted for Clinton and Obama but I would never feel comfortable talking to them the way I was able to talk with Donald Trump.ā Of course he didnāt. Obama and Clinton are highly educated, deeply experienced and fluent in more than crowd work. What would Maher possibly talk about? āHey Barack, loved your work on health care reform ā now hereās what I think about smoking weed and cancel culture.ā Maherās big āgotchaā moment came when he told Trump, āYouāre scaring people. Do you really want to be scaring your own citizens so much?ā The kicker? āAnd what did he say to that? Honestly, I donāt remember.ā Ah yes, the big, dramatic moment ā the grand gesture where the brave truth-teller confronts the tyrant ā and he forgets? This isnāt journalism, itās fan fiction. In the end, Maher wasnāt just played by Trump ā he allowed himself to get strung up like a marionette, tossing out softball observations in exchange for the illusion of relevance. Maybe he wanted to be the courageous centrist who tames the beast. Instead, he was the rubber-nosed fool dancing for a Big Mac at the end of Trumpās table. If thereās one thing more disturbing than Trumpās delusions of grandeur, itās seeing Maher nodding along, hoping for a laugh or two ā while the rest of us are stuck watching Trump crash his circus tent down on democracy. Hugh Fink is an Emmy Award-winning comedian and former writer for āSaturday Night Live.ā He has served as executive producer for the Writers Guild Awards and teaches comedy writing at Harvard University, Chapman University and Emerson College.|
